The Day off effect. Convince yourself and you company of the benefits or vacation.
Published Friday, March 7th 2014Good for the Economy, Good for our Well-being
Our premise here is simple: Americans aren’t taking all the days off to which they are entitled, and we aim to change that. It’s obviously good for our industry, but it’s also good for the economy and U.S. competitiveness, good for employers, and most importantly, good for American workers and their families.
Days Left on the Table Take Heavy Toll
In 2013, American workers left 429 million days of earned leave on the table, an average of 3.2 days per employee. Because workers neglect to use their time off, the U.S. economy loses $160 billion in total sales each year, sales that could support 1.2 million jobs.
Time Away is Vital to a Healthy, Fulfilled Life
Our research found that nearly six in 10 employees (59%) believe using their earned leave improves their family life. Employees also reported a series of positive benefits including improved mental and physical health, and improved family and social life.
