Single Supplements. Are they going away?

I have written before about NCLs newest ship the Epic which is launching in July.  They have 120 cabins which are for singles but can be adapted into a double if desired. 

What got my attention recently was a statistic quoted in a UK newspaper that indicated that about 35 million travelers take single vacations, but that less than 5% take a cruise.  I'm sure the reason is predominantly the cruise line pricing for single supplements of generally 100%.

i would really like to see the cruise lines take a hard look at creating a model that will attract more singles and during the regular refurbishment of the ships when they get updated for all the latest featuers, and activities, they modify some spaces to accomodate this segment that appears to be growing.
