On why use a travel agent
Published Sunday, January 24th 2010 - Updated Tuesday, January 26th 2010Thought I would share a little diddy from Newsday this past Sunday (1/17/10). It's called "Don't Count Travel Agents Out' When NOT to book it online yourself" The first trip listed is CRUISING!! Here are the reasons as stated in the article:
"1) Cruise lines give travel agencies special deals that you probably won't find anywhere else.
2) A cruise can get complicated - ship operations, airline tickets, hotel rooms, shore excursions."
I personally like what I tell potential clients better than what was written above. When asked "Why would I use you when I can book it online myself?" My response is "If there is no additional cost for my service (and sometimes a better rate) why wouldn't you use me?" Online booking gives you nothing, I give you service, travel experience, knowledge, and a laugh or two, at no additional cost.

I will prove it to you. Call or make an online reservation with the cruise line directly but do not make full or final payment, just a hold or a deposit. Then contact me with your reservation number and quote and I will improve the value of that cruise and if I can't or send you a coupon for $ $50 off coupon to a restaurant or a future gift certificate you can use when booking through Travel Cruise and Tour.
There are of course many other reasons to use a travel agent, for instance are you going to call 1-800-Internet when you have a problem, get delayed, need assistance during the cruise or afterward? I don't recommend that.
Travel Agents have actually been on many of the ships and many of the ports of call that you will be looking at. They can respond to questions about kids activities, best ports for excursions, what to expect etc. All included.
