The various travel operators have recently made changes to their current schedules as a result of tremendous press as well as concern for their clients, but what should you do if your vacation is scheuduled for this summer or you want to plan a cruise now?

While it can be argued that this is just another flu and we have plenty of flu vaccine why has the media created such a big event, even to getting the President involved, when there are less than 150 cases and most  are over the flu already.  But what should we do relative to travel.

Do what you should do all the time, wash your hands regularly and use some liquid sanitizer when you can't.  Don't let this stop you from living your normal life.

Right now some travel providers including cruise lines are looking at modifying their schedules for this week.  That was for this week, not the short term future.  Until they and the public health community really understand this they are being cautious.

I would continue to plan my vacation and check into various insurance programs such as Access America to help protect you against delays or illness or other factors affecting your vacation investment.  Travel insurance in general is a very good program for most US residents traveling internationally and now should this flu flareup be a more significant or longer term issue than the Public Health authorities are indicating, it provides added coverage and peace of mind at very reasonable costs.
