Baltimore Cruise Terminal
Published Saturday, July 25th 2009The more I visit Baltimore the more impressed I get with the city not only as a great homeport for the cruise lines, but as a city to visit pre and or post cruising. There is the Inner Harbor with its great restaurants and specialty shops lining the harbor, a great Aquarium, the antique ships, Little Italy ( not so little when it comes to great restaurants), Salt Point, Ft. McHenry, and on and on. Even a visit to Camden Yards is in order even if you don't like Baseball.
And more and more cruise lines are realizing the advantages Baltimore offers. Carnival is now sailing year round every week. Royal Caribbean is expanding their operations. Celebrity with the Mercury is coming to Baltimore January 2010. NCL and others as well.
Destinations from Bermuda to the Caribbean, from 5 to 12 nights. Next time you are thinking of a cruise, take a look at the opportunities from Baltimore and the added pre or post cruise opportunities of the city.
As for the ship inspection. I was very impressed with the Carnival Pride. The Pride's staterooms at the inside, oceanview, and balcony are about 50% larger then there competitors in their market segment. The "Icons of Beauty" theme of the ship is carried throughout and exceedingly well done. Very impressive. And just in case you thought I missed it, the food was fantastic, and they have a specialty restaurant David's Supper Club at the very top of the Atrium which not only had a fantastic menu but an excellent additional wine list that reflected absolute top quality.
