The Muttrah Souq is one of the most famous markets in the Sultanate of Oman and an example of traditional Middle-Eastern Souqs. Its narrow, twisted alleys and an irregular square are clustered with tiny shops. Busy both mornings and evenings, there is a 3-hour siesta break between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Shops are filled with brass utensils, woven decorative fabrics, pottery, Omani daggers and other traditional souvenirs. The fragrance of frankincense and spices adds an exciting flavor to the commercial activity.Currency
The local currency is the Omani rial. Most vendors accept US dollars.
